Abstract

The invention relates to a method for machining workpieces on CNC machine tools according to which a profiling tool with a cutting edge is fixed inside a tool holder and is guided over a surface of the workpiece, whereby the surface of the workpiece is machined by a cutting edge when moved in the direction of the cutting edge. The aim of the invention is to develop a machining method for producing straight and curved grooves and structures on planar and three-dimensional surfaces of a workpiece by using a cutting tool during which it is unnecessary to re-clamp the workpiece. To this end, the profiling tool is mounted inside the tool holder in a manner that permits it to rotate about an axis that is preferably perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece.
