Process for Carrying Out Chemical Reactions Under Periodically Changing Temperatures

Dr. Brandner, Dr. Schubert

Abstract

Process for carrying out chemical reactions under periodically changing temperatures involves using a micro-reactor comprising a stack of foils forming a base unit of foils, in which the middle foil has grooves covered by a neighboring foil to form channels. One or more reactants are injected into the channels. A first outer foil of the base unit has parallel grooves covered by a neighboring foil to form chanels. A second outer foil has a resistance heater, and a valve between a coolant source and the micro-reactor periodically interrupts the coolant flow.
