IMVT also engages in research cooperations with small and medium enterprises. Often funding is provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) through the Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen „Otto von Guericke“ e.V. (AiF) and by the German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt e.V.).

Final report of the project

AIF

Portable micro direct methanol fuel cells (µDMFC) are of great interest as power supply for small electric devices. During the operation, CO2 is formed by the reaction of methanol and water at the anode side of the fuel cell, generating a two-phase flow.

Aim of this project is the development of a new process using supercritical methanol (T > 240 °C, P > 80bar) for the production of biodiesel based on waste cooking oil.

DBU

The aim of the research was to improve the corrosion resistance of thin-walled, micro-structured apparatuses. For this purpose, the corrosion process in sulfuric acid of varying concentrations and temperatures was to be characterized for a variety of alloys and coatings.
